"You are a great mom." Friends will tell you this, family, neighbors, sometimes even people who have no children of their own and don't really speak from experience. Support comes from so many places that sometimes moms overlook. So much going on in everyday life, that it's hard to slow down and take it to heart when someone that is a part of that everyday life tries to get through to you that you ARE doing a great job at the hardest job of all. Being a mom. Embrace these moments, take them to heart, know that you really are a great mom. No matter who is saying it, there must be some reason they felt compelled to tell you. Especially if this is someone that isn't a parent. Sometimes these are the people that see something in you that they feel they don't have. Surround yourself with the people in your life that inspire and encourage you. One of the biggest pitfalls of being a mom is caring. Being care givers makes you susceptible to people that need, people that want to be like you, or don't feel good themselves, and as a mom it's hard to turn away someone that needs love and help. It's a great quality, but don't let those people detract from who you are. Never let caring for someone that doesn't appreciate the love and support you give them diminish who you are. You are a great mom and the better person for having tried to help them, having tried to heal them, having tried to support them in whatever way big or small that you tried, YOU did try.
